S-scan MRI

Kenai Peninsula Orthopaedics uses the S-scan dedicated MRI scanner that represents the latest technology in MRI. The unique design maximizes comfort and stability. The MRI is open for easy access and no claustrophobia. The S-scan also provides amazingly detailed images for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

digital x-ray, ultrasound, DXA, MRI

  • Digital radiography is performed in a comfortable and private suite, in office. Our x-rays can be viewed digitally on any computer in the office within minutes.
  • Ultrasound using a state-of-the-art portable ultrasound machine can be performed comfortably for immediate diagnosis of many common orthopaedic and hand conditions. Ultrasound can also be used to assist with needle guidance for injection and joint aspiration procedures with increased accuracy and increased patient comfort.
  • DXA scans are done in a private suite, and are used to measure bone density. The scans are essential to diagnose osteoporosis and to monitor treatment.

CT Scanner--Planmed Verity

The Planmed Verity is a unique, in-office CT scanner that uses CBCT (cone-beam computed tomography) technology to provide hi-resolution 3D images of the extremities at a much lower radiation dose than typical scanners, within a few seconds. All scans are performed sitting in a comfortable chair, but weight-bearing images are also possible. This is the ONLY extremity CT scanner on the Peninsula, and the ONLY scanner capable of weight-bearing images. Images can be reviewed immediately, resulting in a more expeditious diagnosis.
